A celebration that tastes of Italy
The Costa family has run Ristorante Taormina at Südstraße 26 in Elberfeld, near the Historische Stadthalle, since 1979. Founded by Cateno Costa and run since 2011 by his son Fabrizio, it is a second-generation family business where hosting means more than serving. Fabrizio's idea is simple: turn every meal into an event.
That is exactly what we offer for your celebration, too. Whether it is a team dinner, a Christmas party, a family birthday, a hen or stag party or an evening for two: you bring the occasion, we take care of kitchen, cellar and service. How many guests we can seat for you, we discuss in person – we give seat numbers and rooms on request, so you do not set out with wrong expectations.
The Taormina is easy to reach: the Wuppertal-Steinbeck S-Bahn stop is a three-minute walk, the Historische Stadthalle bus stop five minutes and the main station about ten minutes.

What lands on the table at your event
With us you celebrate with what the kitchen does best anyway – Italian with a Sicilian touch. Together with you we put together what suits your group:
- Antipasti to share: Antipasto Misto, Carpaccio, Vitello Tonnato, Burrata 2.0, Focaccia or Bruschettone – ideal to start for the whole table.
- Homemade pasta: from Carbonara and Lasagne to classics like Settantanove or 100% Calabria.
- Pizza: from Margherita to Pizza Taormina dal 1979, including vegetarian variations.
- Sicilian dishes and more: meat and fish such as Saltimbocca, Filetto di Manzo, Salmone or Polipo, plus our weekly changing special menu.
- Dolci: Tiramisu, Panna Cotta al Pistacchio or Zabaione to finish.
- Wine list & aperitivo: spritz variations as a welcome, plus an extensive wine list with wines from South Tyrol, Piedmont, Tuscany and Sicily.
Whether a menu by arrangement, dishes to share or the à la carte menu for every guest: we talk it through with you. We give group prices on request. You can have a look at the current menu beforehand on our menu page.
How to book your event
Tell us the occasion, date and group size in the form. We will get back to you personally, sort out menu, drinks and schedule and confirm the date. Please always request groups of 12 or more and special occasions through this form rather than the online reservation. The earlier the better – especially before Christmas.

How many guests can you seat?
We discuss the possible group size with you personally. Tell us the approximate number of guests and your preferred date in the form and we will check what is possible.
When can we celebrate with you?
Generally within our opening hours, which you will find further down the page. We are closed on Tuesdays. Requests outside these hours are only possible on request.
What does an event cost?
We do not have fixed packages. We put together menu and drinks by arrangement with you and give you the prices on request. You can see single dish prices on the menu.
We are only two or four people – how do we book?
For regular tables please use our online booking through OpenTable. For groups and special occasions the request form on this page is the right way.
Do you have vegetarian dishes?
Yes, 16 dishes on our menu are marked vegetarian or vegan: antipasti, salads, pasta and pizza. Please ask our staff about allergens and additives.
