An evening that belongs to the two of you
Sometimes all it takes is a good table, soft light and someone you are happy to sit with for a long time. At Ristorante Taormina on Südstraße, close to the Historische Stadthalle, you find exactly that: a warm dining room with wooden tables, roses in old olive oil bottles and wall niches full of pictures of Italy. The Italian idea behind it is called cena al lume di candela, dinner by candlelight.
The Costa family has run the house since 1979, now in its second generation. Fabrizio Costa sees himself as a host in the best sense: he wants to turn every meal into a little event. For a couple that means you do not need to think about anything and can focus entirely on each other.
What you can enjoy
Sicilian flavours, wine and dolci
Begin with a glass of sparkling wine or a spritz and share a starter: Burrata 2.0 with tomato tartare, gambas with cognac and chilli or an Antipasto Misto. Then perhaps fresh ribbon pasta with truffle (L'Alba in Puglia), garganelle with spicy nduja, or from the fish side of the kitchen the octopus Polipo and the salmon fillet Salmone. If you like something festive, choose Filetto di Manzo or Saltimbocca.
The wine list is long and carefully chosen: white wines from South Tyrol and Sicily, reds from Tuscany and the south, plus sparkling wines and champagne. Our service is glad to help you choose; also ask about the wine recommendation of the month.
A dolce belongs at the end: Panna Cotta al Pistacchio with Sicilian pistachios from Bronte, tiramisu or a warm Soufflé Bianco Etnea. Any of them is made for sharing.

Proposal. Planning a surprise? Just send us a quick message on WhatsApp beforehand and we will work out together what is possible, without your partner suspecting anything.

Your table for two in two minutes
For a dinner for two you do not need a request form, just a table. Book it online via OpenTable, choose the day and time and note your occasion in the comment field. Last-minute plans? Just send us a quick message on WhatsApp.
Please note that we are closed on Tuesdays. Friday and Saturday are the most popular, so it is worth booking early. We are at Südstraße 26, a few minutes from the main station and Steinbeck S-Bahn station.

Is there candlelight at our table?
The evening mood with us is warm and calm, very much in the spirit of cena al lume di candela. If a particularly quiet table matters to you, add it to the comment field when you book.
Can I plan a proposal with you?

Which wines suit a dinner for two?
That depends on your dishes. White wines from Sicily or South Tyrol suit fish and pasta, a Tuscan red suits beef and veal. Our staff will gladly advise you, and many wines are also available by the glass.
Can I book a table by email?
No, we take reservations via OpenTable. At short notice, just send us a message on WhatsApp.
