Celebrate Christmas the way Italy tastes
When the days get shorter outside, Ristorante Taormina becomes properly cosy. Wooden tables, warm light, an open kitchen and a family that has been hosting on Südstraße in Elberfeld, near the Historische Stadthalle, since 1979: a fine setting for the Christmas party with your team, club or friends.
Instead of mulled wine and a rushed buffet you get a proper meal: first an aperitivo to arrive, then antipasti to share, homemade pasta and Sicilian-influenced dishes, finally a dolce and an espresso. With a wine list that runs from South Tyrolean white to Barolo. You end up sitting together longer than planned – and that is exactly what makes a good Christmas party.
What we offer
Menu by arrangement – put together with you
We do not have a fixed Christmas menu: we put your Christmas party together by arrangement, depending on group, taste and occasion. You can choose from what the kitchen does best anyway:
- Antipasti: Antipasto Misto, Vitello Tonnato, Burrata 2.0, Carpaccio, Focaccia or Bruschettone.
- Pasta and pizza: homemade pasta from Lasagne to Carbonara, pizza from Margherita to Pizza Taormina dal 1979.
- Meat and fish: Saltimbocca, Filetto di Manzo, Salmone or Polipo, plus the weekly changing special menu.
- Dolci: Tiramisu, Panna Cotta al Pistacchio, Zabaione or a Formaggio Misto.
- Aperitivo and wine: spritz variations as a welcome, sparkling wines, wines from South Tyrol, Piedmont, Tuscany and Sicily.
There are vegetarian and vegan dishes in every category so nobody at the table goes without. We give prices on request.
How it works
Ask early, celebrate relaxed
In December, evenings for Christmas parties are quickly taken. Please ask for your preferred date as early as possible.
- Request: give date, approximate number of guests and wishes in the form, alternative dates are welcome.
- Arrange: we get back to you personally and put the menu together with you.
- Celebrate: you come, we host – from the aperitivo to the last espresso.
The party generally takes place within our opening hours. We are closed on Tuesdays. Everything else we discuss on request.
Questions about Christmas parties
Is there a fixed Christmas menu?
No, we put the menu together by arrangement with you. That way it suits your group, your budget and the preferences at the table.
How early should we ask for December?
As early as possible. The evenings before Christmas are in particular demand. Send us your preferred date and, if you like, an alternative, and we will find a solution together.
What does the Christmas party cost?
That depends on menu, drinks and group size. We give you the prices on request; the single dish prices are on our menu.
Can we come with vegetarians?
Yes. 16 dishes on our menu are marked vegetarian or vegan, across antipasti, pasta and pizza. Our staff will answer questions about allergens.
How do we get to you by train and bus?
The Wuppertal-Steinbeck S-Bahn stop is a three-minute walk, the Historische Stadthalle bus stop five minutes, and the main station about ten minutes. So everyone gets there and back home safely without a car.
